Members of Parliament

Members of Parliament

It was decided very early on in the formation of our group that we would need Parliamentary support for our case, and we encouraged members to contact their local Members of Parliament in their own constituencies to make our case heard and our story known.

One of our members collated all of the information that we had received from our other member's dealings with their respective MP's and co-ordinated a meeting at the Houses of Parliament in December 2013, just a few weeks after our EGM.

The Parliamentary Meeting

Six members of the Hibu Shareholders Group travelled to London to meet with 56 cross-party members of Parliament to give a presentation on our story and why we believed we had been defrauded. Of the 56 MPs that had confirmed attendance via email and phone call, only 18 actually showed up for the meeting and our presentation. We had been told there were no presentation facilities in Parliament (Really???) therefore we took our own projection screen, speakers, and sound equipment via London public transport.

Despite a very impressive 20 minute presentation carried out by a totally blind member of our group, who had committed everything to memory and was aided by his assistant to project the visuals, the attention span of the collective Members of Parliament was what can only be described as downright disrespectful. Two decided that our meeting was an ideal time to have an afternoon nap, whilst another three did not look up from their phones at all.

I can recall speaking to one of my colleagues at the end of the presentation and commenting that it reminded me of a Friday afternoon double maths lesson in a high school on a hot afternoon, total disinterest.

A couple of MPs made positive noises of agreement, however, despite our efforts in co-ordinating the meeting and six members travelling over 1000 miles collectively to get to the Houses of Parliament, not one MP did anything to assist the group after that meeting....

.....not a single one

In total our members contacted 91 of their local Members of Parliament, not one MP actually did anything constructive, however, there were some THIRTY SEVEN that did not even have the courtesy to respond to their constituent. These are listed below.
